Kids Grading Process – Gradings & Graduation Parties
Tip Test Week
The first stage of the kids grading process is the TIP Test (Training In Progress). This assessment takes place during a normal class roughly halfway between gradings and helps ensure students are on track for their next sash level.
After successfully completing the TIP Test, students receive a coloured tip on their sash along with a grading form to apply for the upcoming grading. If your child misses TIP Test Week, don’t worry — we can arrange a catch-up test so they don’t miss the opportunity to progress.
Grading Week
Grading Week is when students formally test for their next grade. Children simply attend their usual class at the normal time during grading week and perform their syllabus work.

This flexible approach ensures every student has the chance to grade without needing to attend extra sessions – just come along, try your best, and enjoy the experience.
Grading Forms
Grading forms are issued during TIP Test Week. If you didn’t receive one, spare forms are always available.
Please complete and return the grading form promptly to make sure your child receives their certificate and new sash at graduation. We never want anyone to miss out on recognition for their hard work.
Graduation Party
After grading week we hold our Kids Graduation Party, celebrating each student’s progress and achievements in Kung Fu training.
There are separate graduation events for:
- Little Dragons (ages 4–7)
- Junior Warriors (ages 7–12)
Families with children in both groups can attend whichever session is most convenient.
Graduation events include:
- Certificate and sash presentations
- Party food and celebrations
- Kung Fu demo’s with classmates
Dates and times are always listed on the grading forms.
PLEASE NOTE: The Graduation Party is optional. We know not all students are able to attend and thats fine. If you can’t make it don’t worry…they’ll receive their Certificate & Sash in class to a big round of applause.
